Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure

As electric vehicles become more commonplace, so too is the availability of public EV charging stations. But it typically costs more to use these than it would to use one of our home EV chargers. That’s why you should request our electric vehicle charging point installation service.

EV charging is quite simply the process of recharging an electric or hybrid vehicle, much like how you would charge your smartphone or tablet. Most electric and hybrid vehicles are equipped with onboard AC-to-DC converters as only DC power can charge batteries.

There exist three types of EV charging station:

  • Slow
  • Fast
  • Rapid

If you’re unsure which option is right for you, our home EV charger installation team will be more than happy to discuss this with you. However, before we carry out EV charging point installation, we’ll first meet to discuss your requirements so that we can provide you with the right service.

We’ll then provide you with a FREE quotation listing the system and labour costs upfront, so you know precisely what you’ll be charged. Our quotes entail no obligation, and you’re free to walk away if you’re not completely satisfied.

FAQs

Absolutely! The large battery packs installed in electric cars drive up the cost of manufacturing electric vehicles. Because of this, EV cars aren’t yet at parity with petrol- or diesel-powered vehicles. The aforementioned Plug-in Car Grant (PICG) was introduced in 2011 to offset this cost.

Its value has been steadily declining ever since as the cost of EV cars has fallen. Currently, it’s worth up to 35% of the cost of a new vehicle costing less than £32,000 with a £1,500 cap.

The Home EV Charger Grant applies only to motorists who’ve bought or leased a new or second-hand eligible EV vehicle on or after the 1st of October 2016. You must not have previously claimed against a government ChargePoint scheme to be eligible.

Included:

  • Any motorist that’s been assigned an eligible vehicle for at least six months
  • Any individual who’s leased an eligible vehicle for at least six months
  • Any employee who’s leased an eligible electric vehicle as part of a salary-sacrifice scheme
  • Any individual who’s named by their employer as the main user of an eligible electrical vehicle for at least six months
  • Any motorist who can prove that they have purchased an eligible electric car

If eligible, you’ll receive up to £350.

Provided you’ve satisfied all the terms and conditions, an EVHS can be applied to a maximum of two eligible electric vehicles. We’ll need to speak to your local distribution network operator prior to installing two EV charging stations or a second home charging point at a single address.

Nobody likes having a job dragged out, and so we always aim to carry out a first-time fix. Given the nature of the work, however, a second visit may be required, especially if we need to order new panels or a new cylinder. We’ll endeavour to get the work done in a single visit, but this isn’t always possible.
